AUB has
been awarding business degrees since 1900 and has been registered with
and recognized by the Department of Education of New York State and
functioning under its charter since 1863. In addition to operating under
a New York State Charter, AUB is classified by the US Internal Revenue
Service as a 501(c)(3) organization and has been authorized to grant
business degree programs by the Equivalence Committee of the Ministry of
Higher Education in Lebanon. All of AUB’s academic programs are
accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education in the
United States.
In
addition, OSB is aggressively pursuing AACSB (the Association to Advance
Collegiate Schools of Business) International Business Accreditation
planned for the Fall of 2009. AACSB International is the leading
international accrediting agency for bachelors, masters and doctoral
degree programs in business administration and accounting. Although
AACSB has been in existence for the past 90 years, it only began to
offer accreditation to institutions based outside the US in the late
1990s. Shortly after its establishment as a distinct School at AUB, OSB
moved quickly to begin the process of acquiring accreditation.
OSB has
an excellent reputation for overall high quality in the Middle East
region. Its Alumni are among the most
prominent and successful of entrepreneurs and leaders in the Arab region
and beyond.
