The American University of Beirut s Suliman S. Olayan School of Business (OSB) inaugurated its new building on October 13, 2009, unveiling to the public a hi-tech, interactive trading room, dynamic classrooms and labs, and modern open spaces.

The American University of Beirut—First to Receive AACSB Accreditation in Lebanon. On May 5, 2009, American University of Beirut s Suliman S. Olayan School of Business (OSB) held a celebration to mark its accreditation by AACSB International. The event attracted more than 500 attendees, including Fouad Siniora, Prime Minister of Lebanon; John J. Fernandes, President and CEO of AACSB International; and many other dignitaries. OSB became the first business school in Lebanon to achieve AACSB accreditation.

5-May-2009    OSB joins ranks of 5 percent of business schools in the world with AACSB accreditation
 
The Suliman S. Olayan School of Business (OSB) at the American University of Beirut celebrated its newly-acquired AACSB accreditation at a dinner held in Phoenicia InterContinental on May 5, thus making it the first business school in Lebanon to receive such accreditation.

In March 2009 AUB introduced an integrative business simulation class in which teams of MBA students and EMBA executives competed in simulation of a fiercely competitive market moderated and supervised by Dr. Sajay Samuel, Professor, Penn State University. Three teams in MBA and six teams in EMBA competed in a very competitive atmosphere.

The Deans of the 1,000 Best Business Schools from 153 countries have elected Suliman S. Olayan School of Business as the Best Business School in Lebanon and the second best business School in the Middle-East. On the occasion of the Eduniversal World Convention that took place in la Sorbonne, Paris, on November the 4th and the 5th, 2008, a trophy for the Olayan School of Business was presented in front of 60 countries in the world.

The Eduinversal ranking is the fruit of a global enquiry that was organized by Consultants and controlled by a Scientific Committe of international recognition.

Only 27 Buisness Schools have been honored with an Award which uniquely grants the 3 Best Institutions within each of the 9 Eduniversal geographical zones: Africa, Middle East, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, Latin America, Northern America, Central Asia, Far Eastern Asia and Oceania.

In April 2008 the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation granted awards to six Arab researchers. Among them was Salim Chahine, associate professor of finance at the Olayan School of Business at AUB, who received an award for the best young Arab researcher in economics, banking, and financial and management sciences.
